Why does Frank
Levy look so happy?
Henry David
Thoreau wrote that he didn't want to come to the end of his life and
then find out that he hadn't really lived it. There lies a capsule
explanation as to why Frank Levy elects to continue to live and write so
very close to New Orleans. It is a little-known medical fact
that Frank's pulse matches exactly the rhythm of the Mardi Gras Mambo. However, during
the 51 weeks of the year when it's not Mardi Gras, he is very seriously a published writer, lecturer, public speaker,
consultant, performer, educator and wine expert. He also directs plays
and theater workshops.
Frank is a 30 year veteran teacher of writing, speech and dramatics from
elementary school through university level, as well as a state certified
evaluator for talented theater. He has performed his one-man interactive
shows across the United States, Canada and in six tours of Australia,
beginning with an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in New York when he
was eighteen.
Frank has toured schools, synagogues, corporate gatherings, community
centers, churches, and festivals with a wide variety of programs for
audiences of all ages, including successful interactive theater
projects, workshops, and performances. He has special training in working
with large groups who have Post Traumatic Stress and uses his interactive theater
techniques to deliver the message wrapped in entertainment.
Frank has gained special recognition
from the Red Cross for interactive performances he provided at dozens of
shelters after Hurricane Katrina and again for Hurricanes Rita, Gustave and Ike.
Frank has also taught theater at
Southeastern Louisiana University, Media Arts at Tulane University and
recently performed in a highly acclaimed production of Eugene O'Neill's
The Iceman Cometh at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. He is
listed in Who's Who in Business and Communications and the Louisiana
Registry of Performing Artists.
Frank is the founding director of the Playmakers Summer Theater Camps
in Covington, Louisiana. The year 2009 will mark Frank's 14th year as the
creative force behind the camps.
